For the first time in my life, I am not at home to celebrate one of my country’s biggest festivals - Diwali.
It is a new experience as I find my own new ways to celebrate this festival by myself. I’m buying sweets, lighting lamps, and finding ways to spread happiness in the world.
Discovering new ways to celebrate something familiar is fun!
Today is also the beginning of the new year in the Hindu calendar. A new year is here, and with its new beginnings comes the potential of new feelings, new experiences, and new milestones.
As the year turns, I’m contemplating with a sense of gratitude the gifts that life has given me in the year that passed.
The gift of living with my best friends for the first 5 months of last year.
The gift of starting a new adventure in my career.
The gift of going to a new country.
The gift of making new friends.
The gift of mentorship.
The gift of spending time with my loved ones.
And finally, gratitude for the gift of your love and attention, dear reader!
It is with this gratitude that I wish you and your families a very Happy Diwali. May the light of this gratitude shine bright even in your darkest moments
Alright, the poem begins in 3… 2… 1!
Lights that glitter, lights that shine.
Lights that look so very fine.
Lights that glimmer, lights that glow.
High above, and down below.
Brightly gleaming, everywhere.
Festivities in the air.
This festival of lights is here,
and it makes darkness disappear.
They're talking to you, all these lights
as they flicker and shine.
"Go on," they say, "write for your life,
a new story divine."
That’s it! This was edition no. 137 of Hello Universe, thanks for checking it out!
See you next Tuesday when I return with Some Fun Stuff.
You'll get the outcome of your sacrifice bro ...and a very happy Diwali to you
