Beautiful poem! Lately I’ve been neglecting celebrations because I just haven’t had the space for them, due to new developments at work and in my family life. I sort of celebrated my birthday with three friends three weeks after the fact, and although it was awesome, I didn’t really connect those feelings with my birthday at all. It just felt like a fun night out. Thanks for reminding me how powerful celebrations are!

It's so kind of you to share these thoughts with us, Andrei. Celebrations are truly a powerful way of marking a moment in time. I hope you're in a place to celebrate with all your heart by the time the next birthday comes around!

Here's a mini rhyme for you:

-------

When life got in my life's own way,

It came at a big cost.

For time was scarce and hard to find,

and I was feeling lost.

But soon enough, I realized,

this truth that was sublime.

That celebrations are the way

to mark my place in time.

Oh wow, this is actually genius. It brought a tear to my eye. It sounds like one of those deceptively simple poems that contain the soul of the world. Thank you so much! You should keep this one for use sometime later.

Also, to be honest, I'm in a similar boat with the scarcity of time. That made it easier to pen these words.

Thanks Ragha. Here's a mini rhyme inspired by the comic:

-----

I went on a quest to find the answers

for the puzzles that perplexed my mind.

But the more I searched, I discovered,

I needed questions of the right kind!

I'm glad you liked it. I'm still curious, did you end up watching Everything Everywhere All At Once after all? I remember recommending it last year and you feeling doubtful about watching it. πŸ˜€

Haha, you have a good memory. Did not see it yet, but if I get a chance I will give it a try. :)

I celebrated my last birthday by going to a fancy restaurant that I'd been waiting to go to since it's a little expensive and an occasion helps soften the blow to the wallet!

Oh that sounds lovely, Sharayu. Send me some photos!

Here's a mini poem for you:

It's my birthday and it's time for a treat,

time for a restaurant that’s fancy and neat.

A glass of wine and some decadent food,

every bite puts me in a happy mood!

One (or both) of my kids have had soccer games on the last few of my birthdays, so I’ve spent at least part of it at the field, cheering them on.

Wow Kevin, that sounds delightful. Watching your kids learn how to make their place in the world, watching them discover their competitiveness, their grit and spirit. What could be a better birthday gift. Thank you for sharing this with us. Here's a mini rhyme for you:

------

The day that I was born on Earth,

it comes 'round once a year.

And that's the day I think about

what brings me love and cheer.

I find that I am happy when I

watch my children grow.

As they play with such passion

on the soccer field below.

A beautiful poem, Punit! Happy, happy birthday! πŸ₯³

Last year my husband and I celebrated our birthdays on one of the weekends between the two - we got together with family, and camped overnight in my parents' garden. Not bad for October...! πŸ₯Ά

(Okay, it was a bit of a cheat - we were in our campervan, not a tent!) 🀣

Woohoo!

An overnight camping sesh sounds like a delight. Hope you got some board games and cards along!

Combining birthday parties sounds like an amazing way to double the joy in the celebrations. My parents have their birthdays within 9 days of each other, so we end up doing the same for their birthdays, celebrating both together.

Here's a rhyme for you Rebecca:

--------

It's birthday party time,

so let us gather our loved ones.

We're celebrating two at once,

and that is how we max the fun!

Yes - we've got a pack of cards on board - our favourite game is 'Newmarket'. 😊

Happy birthday! My last birthday was on Easter - which was so fun! It was like the whole day was a big party, but the attention wasn't on me. Most people forgot to wish me a happy birthday, but that was ok.

Here's a mini rhyme for you:

----------

They celebrated all around me,

love surrounds me,

and astounds me.

As this life goes on at its pace,

the path that I trace

showers me with grace.

Yes, a bit late, sorry.

One line response to your question:

I spent my last birthday with wife and kids in London, celebrating a big number in big style; it meant the world to me, more than I can say.

And what a birthday celebration you had. What an amazing gift by your friends. They are wonderful people, but being your friends, that's not a real surprise.
