I turned 31 just 3 days ago. It is a unique feeling to settle into this new decade of my life and to feel comfortable with it.
This birthday was unique and special. I traveled to Delhi and Gurgaon where my friends had put together a spectacular party for me, and I want to tell you all about it!
This party was a celebration of everyone’s talents, from poetry to music to illustrations to dance. And that’s what today’s poem is about.
I’m curious to know - how did you spend your last birthday? How was it meaningful to you? Before you read today’s poem, drop me a short, one line answer. You can also consider sharing your thoughts as a comment. I reply to all comments with a mini poem, so today might be your turn! 😀
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
Gather friends below a roof, a gorgeous, awesome, happy group. 😎 Poets, dancers, artists, singers, let their lovely talents glimmer. ✨ Some Adele to take you off. Some jokes and quips to make you laugh. 😂 Kathak moves, an Indian treat, with lovely music! Such a feast! 💃🏻 Acoustic vibes, percussive beats, A Beatles song, a tune so sweet! 🎸 Accordions, ukes, a synthesizer. Music that will take you higher! 🪗 Cartoons drawn before your eyes, that fill the night with pure surprise! 🤡 Raise the roof and move and sway. As you dance the night away. 🕺🏻 Once the guests have left the tower, play board games till morning hours. ♟ Live these moments, feel content. And that's A Weekend Wisely Spent! 😇
That’s it! Thanks for reading edition no. 111 of Hello Universe!

This is a place where I recommend read-worthy, hum-worthy, and watch-worthy content from across the internet. The underlined words are links that you can click to access my suggestions:
1. Check out A Day At The Park by Kostas Kiriakakis: A stunning philosophical short story illustrated beautifully by the author. It will leave you spellbound. Check it out!
2. Listen to Airplane Lessons by Stereoclip: I played this track while taking off on an airplane. 10/10 would recommend. Check it out!
3. Watch “Air” on Prime Video: Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Jason Bateman in a story about how Nike signed on Michael Jordan. What a great setup, and what amazing execution too! I loved this movie, and would certainly recommend you check it out.
That’s it for this week. See you next Tuesday!
Beautiful poem! Lately I’ve been neglecting celebrations because I just haven’t had the space for them, due to new developments at work and in my family life. I sort of celebrated my birthday with three friends three weeks after the fact, and although it was awesome, I didn’t really connect those feelings with my birthday at all. It just felt like a fun night out. Thanks for reminding me how powerful celebrations are!
Lovely poem and the comic you shared was beautiful!
