Today's poem comes from my everlasting inability to truly relax.
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
"I must learn to rest!" cried the man to his heart, "I've studied the scriptures! I know every part! I've counted sheep backwards, breathed deep through my nose But peace keeps on slipping right through my ten toes." "Hold on," said his heart, with a chuckle and grin, "Answer a few questions before we begin. Remember that time you got lost in the rain?" "I sang to the puddles and danced through the pain!" "And when your car died on that dark spooky street?" "I fixed it with hairpins, some gum, and some heat!" "That spider the size of a small coffee cup?" "Fernando! We're flatmates, I taught him what's up!" "So help me understand what you're saying to me You've waltzed with disaster! You've swum the dark sea! You've conjured solutions from thin air and spit, yet somehow 'relaxing' has you in a fit? My friend, you're a phoenix who thinks he's a mouse. A king who keeps searching for keys to his house. You think you need teaching in letting things go. But you've already mastered the whole bloody show! The secret of peace (and I'll whisper this part) is not what you DO, it's remembering you ARE. So next time you panic on how to be zen, remember you've already been born again... (Metaphorically speaking, of course, don't be scared) ...through every disaster you've brilliantly dared. True relaxation will happen just when your trust in your true self has truly began."
