Today’s poem is one that I publish every time I get to spend time with my favorite person in the whole wide world - my niece!
We live in different countries, and get to hang out once every year, so sharing this poem I wrote for her back in the day ends up being a marker in time for me. I fondly remember the last time I shared this poem, after she and I had visited a castle together. Or the time before that, when we had played with balloons.
This time, I’m just about done with work for the day, and we’re going to play Mario Kart on her Nintendo Switch! My heart is full of joy and gratitude on seeing this little girl become a fully grown human being.
Alright, the poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
“Googoo gaga aww you're so sweet! Look at your tiny hands and feet! I'll smush your rosy chubby cheeks, and laugh with you in gentle shrieks! At noon we'll play a silly sport. At night we'll build a blanket fort. I'll lift you up and run around, and when you nap, I'll make no sound. I love you, love you, love you so!" You say it as you watch them grow. You know it's right, you know it's true. A child brings out the child in you.
That's it for today.
Thanks for reading edition no. 125 of Hello Universe. The last time I’d met her, Hello Universe was just 64 weeks old!
See you next week, when I plan to bring back “Some fun stuff”. Gonna go play some Mario Kart now, haha!
Reading your poem put me with my 3 year old granddaughter and her brother having fun on an IPad. Yes, my child within was loving it!
This poem is one of the greatest gift you can give not just to us your readers, but certainly to your niece. Vying for the top spot with the attention you give to her and the time you spend with her.
That has amazing value.
Thank you for sharing all that love with us.
Only one question: which character is your favorite one to ride with? I'm charmed by Shy Guy, somehow.
