Kristin! Thank you so much for your kind words.

Sometimes I put in a lot of time getting the rhythm just right, and sometimes it just flows out.

This poem was one of those that I put some time in because I wanted to follow the meter of The Big Rock Candy Mountain. 😀

Excellent poem! I love the story telling, the rhythm and the message in this one. Nostalgia as a drug is a great image, and juxtaposing the Palace of the Past to the Playground of the Present is so bang on. Brilliant.

It looks like a longer poem, but once you get reading it doesn't feel that long. So, for me, no issue with sharing longer poems, too.

It's been a while since I've seen that movie! Loved it when I first saw it. A movie only the Coen brothers can make. Basically all they do is full of suprises, wonderful characters and turning and twisting stories. Thanks for reminding me to go and watch some of their movies again.

By the way: loved the Ivy Lab tune. Will certainly share something of them in an upcoming montly playlist.

Thanks Arjan for your kind words! I'm glad to read that it didn't feel like too long a poem. I'll keep it in mind.

If you like the Coen brothers, you should check out this excellent video essay on their shot-reverse shot techniques by Tony from Every Frame A Painting <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UE3jz_O_EM>. While you are there, you could check out all the stuff Tony used to make on Youtube, I think of him as the founder of the modern Youtube video essay genre.

Ivy Lab is certainly a fun artist. I think Cadillac might be the most listened to song on my spotify this month. Will look forward to which track of theirs do you recommend 😀
