The more things change, the more they remain the same. That’s what today’s poem is about.
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
(1980's) Kids these days! What will we do! They're always out with friends. They're always reading comic books and pushing up our spends! (1990's) Kids these days! They have no clue of what their life can be! They just keep watching silly cartoon films on the TV! (2000's) Kids these days! They are the worst! They're violent, angry, foul. For they keep playing video games and curse and yell and scowl. (2010's) Kids these days! They're getting dumb! Their brains are gonna freeze! They're on their stupid phones all time with stories, posts and tweets. (Reality) Kids these days! What's up with them? They're always having fun. The problem is - I’m not a kid, so I am having none. 🙃🙃
That’s it! Thanks for reading edition 158 of Hello Universe. This is one of my favorite poems from those I’ve written and that’s why I wanted to reshare it with you!
I’m curious to know - what decade was your childhood in? I was a child in the 90s and early 2000s, and I loved that era!

1. Use “Similar Songs Finder” to find songs that match the vibe of what you like!: It’s no secret that I love music. I’ve always relied on the wisdom of the Spotify algorithm, suggestions from my friends, and ideas from musical aficionados like
to build my musical library. Now I have another tool at my disposal - Similar Songs Finder. All I have to do is paste in the Spotify URL or name of a track I like, and the algorithm will find me others in the same vibe. It’s super handy! Check it out.2. Listen to “I Heard You Like Polyrhythms” by Virtual Riot: I love this track! It has unique and exciting music, and it made me dance. Whatever mood you’re in, this track will cheer you up so much. Check it out now.
3. Watch “Falling Into Saturn”: I love channels on Youtube that help me visualize something that I only knew abstractly so far. I knew that Saturn has rings, but hadn’t quite comprehended how it would look to fly through them. This video shows all that and more. It is a beautiful journey to a place we can never go to in our lifetimes, and as a result, I highly recommend this video!
That’s it for this week, see you next Tuesday!
I was born in 1959....a bohemian wanna to be. My husband in 1946....a hippie. My son who was born in 1997 is the joy of my life. He has a dry sharp sense of humor and is amazingly well read and great conversationalist. The other day when we were talking he says to me, people say I am from the entitled generation but that's not what I see. It's your generation that is always asking if you get a discount or wish to have your food prepared differently from the menu." He's right, Lol.
Great post! I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and gosh, it was wonderful/exciting/scary/awful/overwhelming/perfect. I'm glad that my childhood tech only amounted to a Sinclair ZX81 computer, a Game & Watch and an Atari games console.
The world is so big and fast now. On the one hand I feel as if I've grown along with it... on the other, well, it's overtaken me altogether!
Such a thought-provoking poem, Punit. Thank you!
