Once a week, I work from an office that’s walking distance from my home. And while the road to get there is super crowded and has no pedestrian facilities, there’s a lakeside path that I can walk along.
So far, I have avoided this path as a commute, because it takes 5 minutes more to walk it. But recently, I got tired of walking on the main road with my life in my hands, and decided to give the lakeside a shot.
And dear reader, I must tell you - walking along a lake as the sun sets, after a loooooong day at work - it is a beautiful feeling!
So that’s what today’s poem is about!
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
I walk where placid waters lie, and tread the shore, my spirits high. The ripples sing their lullaby, whilst Nature's tune fills up the sky. The ducks swim to the golden gleam, they drift as in some gentle dream. The kids, they dance, their joy displayed, as shadows grow and moments fade. The nimble squirrels, up they race, finding life within a chase. Reeds that murmur tales of yore, stretch themselves from shore to shore. Dragonflies in twilight flit, upon the water's face they sit. Their wings, they sparkle, as they fly, up toward a painted sky. Upon a bench, old souls converse, discussing life, in gentle verse. A breeze, it carries tales anew, of grass that waits for morning's dew. The skies, they blush in hues so deep, as day gives way, and stars do peep. Thankful for the time I've traced, I bid adieu, in silent grace. This haven by the lake I've known, where memories and dreams are sewn. A symphony of past and now, I cherish you, I take a bow.
That’s it! Thanks for reading edition 123 of Hello Universe! Gotta say, I like 123.

Some Fun Stuff
This is where I share something cool to read, something cool to listen to, and something cool to watch! The underlined words are links that you can click to visit the recommended content.
1. Check out Lazy Bones Illustrations on Tumblr: This kind of simplistic but profound art speaks volumes to me. Pastel colors, provocative shades, high contrast with zero outlines. Entirely made in MS Paint!!!
Check it out now.
2. Listen to Alberto Balsalm by Will Van Horn: Relaxed and carefree music for a relaxed and carefree week!
3. Watch “The Scale Of The Milky Way” by Epic Spaceman: My favorite latest find on Youtube is Epic Spaceman, and the only thing that bums me out is that he’s made only 5 videos so far. His visualizations and comparisons of space are truly something I’ve never seen before. It blew my mind when he ended up comparing the Sun with the Milky Way and helped me contextualize their comparative sizes with outstanding visual clarity.
Highly recommended, watch now!
Thanks for reading Hello Universe, see you next Tuesday!
What a great video you shared, too!
Brilliant, Punit. I love the poem, but maybe even more the story of discovery. Of taking that time to make a small detour and finding inspiration and joy there. You set a great example, and write a lovely poem to inspire others to do the same.
