Hello Universe turned 4 years old last week! It is incredibly heartening that this little newsletter which started as a way to share my writing has now lived on for so long, and I am grateful to have you as a part of my life, dear reader.
Today's poem celebrates the spirit that went into building Hello Universe. 4 years ago, this newsletter didn't exist, and most people apart from my small social circle had no idea about my creative expression. But now, I hear from loyal readers from across the globe how a poem helped them think differently, look at the world differently, or do different things. This impact of my words is beyond my comprehension, but the fact that such a simple act of writing each week can have so much meaning for someone else in the world, made me think of the concept of today's poem - that when you build something new, you build a whole new universe with it, where new things are now possible and can happen.
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
Young Timothy Tennyson, terribly small, decided to build up a miniature wall. Not much of a wall, just some pebbles and glue, in the patch by the path where the lavender grew. So a beetle, it's route blocked, avoided the wall, which meant that a bird didn't see it at all. That bird, flying forward, distracted a cat, who did not then pounce on a slumbering rat. The rat woke refreshed, and it later went home, and took her children out at night just to roam. So the future Tim lived in, it shifted its shape, a rat and a beetle lived on now, unscathed. Tim's wall, though forgotten, and crumbly, and grey, has nudged the whole world in a different way. Yes, each little 'making', each 'doing', each 'try', paints futures brand new in reality's sky. So build your small wall, or your song, or your plan, you're birthing a cosmos, with your own command! A universe balanced right there on your palm, your acts will decide what the world can become.
That's it! Thanks for reading edition no. 209 of Hello Universe!
As a side note, the reason I am discussing Hello Universe’s 4th anniversary one week late, is that I am neck deep in the middle of building a new future for myself as well!
