I turned thirty three yesterday, and this birthday was made special thanks to my long-distance partner visiting me in my new city. The joy of her presence was compounded by the presence of the loveliest friends, as all of us gathered for a beautiful picnic out in the summer Sun.
I’ve maintained a tradition of writing poems about the time around my birthday for the past three years (Link 1, Link 2, Link 3), and so here’s a poem to bring you dear reader to the amazing day that just went by!
The Sun is out, the clouds all flee, gold rays dance on a day so free. ☀️ A party full of fun and flair, planned by a partner full of care. ❤️ A picnic on the bright green grass surrounded by new friends from class. 🎒 Blankets spread and hammock hung. Music played and bodies swung. 💃🕺 Bright balloons, a bright blue sky, rainbow bubbles floating by. 🎈🫧 Games unfold with childish joy, time stands still and hearts enjoy. 🏀 The present blurs with past and next. Real, dreamy, pure, complex. 🌀 I floated in this sacred space, my heart was full of gratefulness. 🙏❤️ Soul at peace, joy heaven-sent. And that's A Birthday Wisely Spent! 😇😇
That's it! Thanks for reading edition 215 of Hello Universe.
Knowing that I would take things easy on the birthday, I had originally thought of writing an edition in advance so it could go out on time on Tuesday, but decided instead to share a poem about the birthday once the day was over.
Now having written about it, I feel ready to go out in the world and live life as a thirty three year old. 🤗
That's it for this week, see you next Tuesday!
Happy Birthday dear, I am so happy for you.
Love this one! Happy (very belated) birthday!
