I turned thirty two yesterday, and this birthday was made special by a visit from my parents!
This weekend was a celebration of togetherness, with us meeting after many months and enjoying the feeling of being with each other. I’ve maintained a tradition of writing poems about the weekend surrounding my birthday for the past two years (1, 2), and so, here’s a poem about the weekend that just went by!
I’m curious to know - how did you spend your last birthday? How was it meaningful to you? Before you read today’s poem, drop me a short, one line answer. You can also consider sharing your thoughts as a comment
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
Parents come from miles away. To share a special short sweet stay. ✈️ They braved the traffic, took the flight. But once they arrived, their smiles shone bright. ✨ Dad's jokes are a hearty spree. Laughter echoes, filled with glee. 😄 Mom's mango ras, a taste of home. Her magic in the pulp and foam. 🥭 Action movies, seen on loop. Making us a happy group. 🥷🏻 On the screen, they fight and quip. We cheer each heroic flip. 🎬 To the streets, we take our quest. Tasting street food at its best. 🍽 Local flavors, spices blend, in every bite, traditions meld. 🍛 Stories flow from heart to heart, of friends, of home, of times apart. 🤗 In these tales, our lives entwine, family's presence is divine. 😍 These moments wrapped in joy and cheer, with people that I hold so dear. 👨👩👦 Feeling loved, my heart's content. Yes, one more Weekend Wisely Spent! 😇😇
That’s it! Thanks for reading edition 163 of Hello Universe!
See you next Tuesday! 🤗
My 90th birthday...my granddaughter and I hiked up a steep path and sat on a rock at the top. We enjoyed the serenity and the beauty of our surroundings.
Oh, how lovely, Punit! Happy birthday - although I'm very, very late to the party! I've fallen very behind with my reading here on Substack, but I'm so happy to be catching up with Hello Universe today! 🥳
