I’m happy to share that I’m undergoing a career transition at the moment. It is super exciting, and involves a lot of changes in my life - from the scope of work, to the people I work with. It also requires me to move to a new city! How cool!
But then again, there is a part of me that goes - “Oh, we’re moving again are we?! What about the life you’ve built here in THIS city? The one you moved to hardly 3 years ago?”
There’s another part of me that’s super anxious about finding a new home and settling in a new place. Yet another part of me is super scared of the new work challenges. And yet another part feels like an impostor for even attempting this career transition.
So there we are. A cornucopia of mixed feelings ranging from one extreme to another. Nostalgia for what used to be, and excitement + uncertainty for what is on the horizon.
This feeling led me to today’s poem. A poem about a blip in time that just went by. Hope you’ll enjoy reading it.
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
It feels like just a blip in time.
A tiny tune, a single chime.
Yet it is huge. Yet it is vast.
And it went by so very fast.
It feels like just a tangled web.
Of thoughts and hopes and tiny steps.
The page now flips, the chapter's read,
and you don't know what lies ahead.
But do know this - that life may call.
To cities far, with towers tall.
It sends a short, polite invite.
It takes you all your heart and might -
to pull away, to pull apart.
From a life you've built, with all your heart.
To go away to newer quests.
To live new lives, to build new nests.
Don't stop yourself. Go find out what -
life has in store - cold or hot.
A chapter fresh. A brand new start.
That tugs right at your simple heart.
And soon you'll find, a day will come,
when you'll look back at all you've done.
And you will see, that life turned out,
so very great! (or thereabout.)
Just go for it, have lots of fun!
You'll be so happy when it's done.
New days will come, new thoughts will chime.
You'll have a brand new blip in time.
That’s it!

Visual Capitalist has been churning out amazing data visualizations for years now, and I can certainly say that it has made me smarter. That’s it for this week. Thanks for reading Hello Universe. See you next Tuesday!
So exciting! Congratulations on the new job and new city!
Wow. Congrats on the new adventures. A touch of anxiety is normal, but don't worry, you'll make it work. It's so exciting to settle into a new place. Exploring your new home, being confronted with habits that are different, and so on. It's fun. Believe me. I've moved 6 times in the last 17 years. Often crossing borders. It takes a mindset of a nomad, but it is great fun. Good luck.
Oh, and, as always, great poem.
