Sometimes, the best way to get over a writer's block is to make fun of it. That's what today's poem does.
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
The cursor kept on blinking as I
trashed another draft.
Doubting whether I could keep
up with this crafty craft.
😣😣
Concepts flashing in and out,
but nothing I could write.
Nothing that could please a crowd
or cause any delight.
😥😥
Sad and flustered, I looked up
toward the starry sky.
Imploring, "Help me cross this hump,
or I'll break down and cry.
😖😖
My punches have no punch in them,
my humor's lacking fun.
I'm feeling truly underwhelmed.
My talent's been undone!"
💀💀
This drama made the Almighty
look down, surprised and shocked.
And God then sensed that I might need
a passionate pep talk.
📣📣
"Hey man", said God, "take some time off.
Go out and take a walk.
Cause, this is just a classic case of
chronic writer's block!
📖✒❌
"So chill, just take a break, you know?
Lie down, and get some rest.
Just take it easy, let it go!"
said God to me, and left.
👋👋
I did as I was told by God,
and followed the advice.
Right after which I wrote a plot
and edited it twice.
🧾🧾
I know it's not my finest work,
as I am pressing 'SEND'.
But you just read the whole thing, so,
the joke's on you, my friend.
😝😝😝
That’s it! Thanks for checking out edition no. 44 of Hello Universe. Share this lengthy exploration of a creative standstill with a friend who is suffering from their own writer’s block. 😀
Some fun stuff:
This is a place where I share something cool to read, something cool to listen to, and something cool to watch! The colored words are links that you can click to visit the recommended content.
Check out “Hemingway”: This is such a useful website for anyone who wants to improve their writing! It highlights parts of your writing which are hard to read, have unnecessary adverbs, or have simpler alternatives. It even grades your writing on a readability score. Recommended!
Listen to Umbilical Moonrise by Lotus: Lately, I have started gravitating towards longer tracks. Listening to such a long piece of music makes you feel more connected to the inner thoughts of an artist, and takes you on a beautiful journey with them. And oh boy, this track is really well made, and super uplifting. Check it out!
Watch “Pumpkin Cowboy” by Brian David Gilbert: This man’s creativity is a gift that keeps on giving. This is the thrift store puppet western musical you never knew you wanted to see. Absurd, hilarious, creative, amazing. Must watch!
I would love it if you also shared some fun stuff that you love to read/ listen to/ watch across the internet, down in the comments.
See you next week!
