Life has its strange patterns. Last year, around this time, I was struggling with sadness due to derailed plans. This year, same time, I’m sad again.
Why?
Because I’m feeling lonely!
You see, my parents visited me last week, and I loved spending time with them. Now with them back home, I am left alone in this new city, trying to find my place as one among millions.
So I spent some time moping.
But then…
I realized that I am an almost 31 year old adult responsible for his own life. So I decided to stop moping and watch some TV.
I did that.
Then I started moping again.
Then I decided to stop moping again and went and sat in the balcony. I enjoyed the view and the fresh air.
Then I started moping again.
Then I decided to stop moping again and cooked a meal. I took a nap. I spoke to a few friends.
Slowly and steadily, without even thinking about it, I started feeling like myself again.
Now this may not be permanent, after all, I will end up missing my parents again. But the loneliness and sadness started to fade after giving it time. And that’s why I’m resharing with you a poem I wrote last year.
I’m curious to know - how do you cope when life throws curveballs at you and gets you feeling sad? Before you read today’s edition, drop me a short, one line answer. You can also consider sharing your thoughts as a comment. I reply to all comments with a mini poem, so today might be your turn! 😀
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
Here it is in text format, in case you can’t watch the video just yet.
When life gets just a tad too rough, a tad too tough. You've had enough. 😢 When life gets just an inch too dull, And in your skull you feel a lull. 😶 When life gets just a bit too grim or dim, or other synonyms. 📚 Let go, my friend, it ain't no crime. Sometimes, it's good to waste some time. ⏳
That’s it! Thanks for reading edition no. 109 of Hello Universe!

This is a place where I recommend read-worthy, hum-worthy, and watch-worthy content from across the internet. The underlined words are links that you can click to access my suggestions:
1. Check out Gamma app for AI generated presentations: Ever wanted to tell an AI to make a powerpoint presentation for you from just a few words? Give Gamma a shot. I use it often to make internal presentations and even made a small fun presentation for my parents using this app. It’s almost like magic. Use my link to sign up and we’ll both get to make 5 ppts for free!
2. Listen to Some Beat In My Head by Degiheugi: I’ve been listening to this song for more than 4 years. It has never failed to cheer me up. Listen now!
3. Watch this profile of Tata Steel by Asianometry: No one does company profiles like Asianometry. I learned a lot about Tata Steel and its origins from this video and feel inspired. If you are interested in finding out how a company goes about shaping a nation, this is a must watch video!
That’s it for this week, see you next Tuesday!
That synonym line is GENIUS! Sorry you're missing your parents, Punit. Find some sunshine, breathe some air. And reframe that you're 'trying to find your place as one among millions' to the fact that that actually means you ARE ONE IN A MILLION. Special. Unique!
There! Sorted. 🙌
With time things can fade away,
But in the background they do stay.
Thanks for the consideration for me ,that you got
Now get back to work, before it piles up a lot!! 😁😁
