He dreams breezy thoughts on busy days.
I caught up with my buddy Saad recently, who is one of the smartest people I know, is father to the world’s cutest child, and runs a successful fashion business. He suggested today’s topic, and I would love it if YOU sent in suggestions for next week, by clicking here.
Huge shoutout to my early subscribers and really successful newsletter creators Shiva and Ankit for their kind feedback on my first edition. Please subscribe to and follow them!
Poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
Today we meet, this guy so sweet,
and kind, and fun, and smart.
He is so nice, he is so wise,
he even works so hard!
But there is stuff, that's been too rough,
on this here poor man.
A virus, see? Has come to be,
the bane of every clan.
It spreads by air, it's everywhere,
so one must stay at home.
So he is stuck, he's out of luck,
there's nowhere he can roam.
He misses trips, and on his lips,
are tales of trips from past.
And plans of fun, that he'll have once,
this pandemic has passed.
Beaches, mountains, fancy fountains,
they're all on his list.
Woods and deserts, foods and desserts,
oh, how they've been missed!
He'll sleep in shacks, find new life hacks,
he'll meet new people too!
He'll fall in love, maybe, somehow?
There's so much he will do!
He thinks these thoughts, and then he trots,
right back to his workdesk.
To somehow win, and prosper in,
this world so Kafkaesque.
And here's the thing, and it may ring,
quite true to you as well.
This man's assessed, that true success,
needs him to work like hell.
Being busy, is so easy,
he stays falsely satisfied.
So that is all he's worked towards,
and all that he has tried.
So he forgets, his dreams of jets,
his hopes of holidays.
He finds a way, to always say,
all his “busy” cliches.
Soon time will come, when life will hum
its happy tune again.
The virus will, somehow be killed,
and we'll forget its reign.
But he, we'll find, will hide behind,
a shiny new excuse.
Back to the grind, he'll be confined,
to his "productive" blues.
He'll dream new dreams, but soon it seems,
he'll settle for much less.
His plans for trips, will just be blips,
and that's just his process.
But now, be true; could this be you?
Are you just as confined?
When life says "Hi!", do you reply,
"Not now bro, later's fine."
It’s easy to be busy,
while your life passes you by.
So I suggest, and do request,
my friend, don't be this guy.
Thank you so much for checking out Hello Universe. I’m greatly enjoying getting in the writing groove again, and am thankful to each and every one of you for signing up and reading my stuff.
I hope you liked this friendly PSA in form of a poem! If you know someone who is “this guy”, please do share this poem with them! 🙏
Until next Tuesday…
Unfortunately, this could be me:/
