The Socratic method, as described on Wikipedia, is a form of dialogue between individuals based on asking and answering questions. Socratic dialogues feature in many of the works of the ancient Greek philosopher Plato, where his teacher Socrates debates various philosophical issues with this method - asking questions and digging ever deeper.
Today’s poem takes this idea one step further, talking about friendships based on curiosity about the world. Friendships where asking questions about the serious and the absurd creates joy through shared experiences of discovery and delight.
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
When questions flow by, bright and free, "What if?" and "Why?" and "Could it be?" Then laughter bubbles, warm and light, as friendship takes its maiden flight. "What makes the stars look blue tonight?" "Which dream gave you the most delight?" What's built on all these doubts and quips? - A Socratic Relationship. It's playful as the butterflies that fly beneath the bright blue sky. These friendships built on asking "Why?" grow stronger than the tightest tie. There are no answers set in stone, so many questions yet unknown. We've learned that wisdom often hides in questions asked with gleaming eyes. No right or wrong in this warm space, just curious souls who seek and chase. So throw away your anxious mask, and raise your glass to friends who ask. Come celebrate the minds that seek, and find connection when they speak. A kinship of curiosities, like Plato's bond with Socrates.
