Douglas Adams said it best:
Anything that is in the world when you’re born is normal and ordinary and is just a natural part of the way the world works.
Anything that’s invented between when you’re fifteen and thirty-five is new and exciting and revolutionary and you can probably get a career in it.
Anything invented after you’re thirty-five is against the natural order of things.
Today’s poem tries to capture this universal feeling of '“the good old days”.
I’m curious to know - what do you miss from the good old days? Before you read today’s poem, drop me a short, one line answer. You can also consider sharing your thoughts as a comment. I reply to comments with a mini poem, so today might be your turn! 😀
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
"Aah, the good old days", he sighed, and stared into the void. "The fun we had, the stuff we tried, the life that we enjoyed. The things we got for little cash. The games we used to play. I wish I could somehow rehash, the life we led each day." He looked at them and said, distraught, "This world has changed too much." The kids just shrugged, and simply thought, 'Oh he's so out of touch!' 🙃 🙃
That’s it! Thanks for reading edition no. 116 of Hello Universe!
I had published this poem back in June 2021 and thought that there were many new readers who could now enjoy it.

This is a place where I recommend read-worthy, hum-worthy, and watch-worthy content from across the internet. The underlined words are links that you can click to access my suggestions:
1. See the view through someone’s window on WindowSwap: WindowSwap is a website where people from around the world share the view from their windows. A soothing, relaxed way to travel around the world.
2. Listen to “The Soul of Mbira” by Pavel Dovgal: A clean, rhythmic track full of personality and character. Highly recommended!
3. Watch the Julius Caesar playlist on “Historia Civilis”: A post about the “Good old days” would be incomplete without a recommendation of something related to the past. This animated account of Julius Caesar’s life and triumphs is so well made!
I have been binge watching every video on this playlist for the past two days. It is a gripping narrative and the narrator does a stellar job of maintaining intrigue and suspense as the events move along. The most incredible part about this narrative is that ALL OF IT HAPPENED FOR REAL. Truth is somehow always stranger than fiction, and the historical account of Julius Caesar’s life is a great example of that saying. Can’t recommend this enough, GO CHECK IT OUT!
That’s it for this week, see you next Tuesday!
A two word answer....commmon sense!
