“Sale!”
“Discount!”
“Lowest ever price!”
Our e-commerce overlords are on a mission these days to lure us into purchasing way more than we need. I am just as guilty as you are when it comes to stocking up on items that, honestly, I should not have bought - but did anyway because only a fool would let such an amazing offer pass them by!
All these ads tempting me to buy products that I don’t need, reminded me of a poem that I wrote on this subject. At this moment, temporarily, this poem has helped me restrain my urges to press “order”. Check it out!
Poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
A purchase decision
a product to buy.
An unnecessary thing
you want to try .
🤑🤑
A flimsy attraction,
some niche merchandise.
A whimsy of art,
or a nifty device!
💻📱🎧🎸🖼️🎮
It screams "ADD TO CART"
and it waits for your click
"JUST ONE MORE IN STOCK",
it says, as seconds tick.
⌚⏰🕰️⌛⏳
You look at your wallet
and at your account.
You justify spending
this foolish amount.
💰💰💰💰💰
"Click, click!" you purchase it.
The delivery guy calls.
The product arrives -
.
.
.
you don't use it at all.

Thanks so much for checking out Hello Universe!
Try and resist the temptation. Save some cash instead for Mr. Bezos’ upcoming product - space tourism!
Before we say goodbye this week, I wanted to share a really cool newsletter discovery service with you. It’s called “The Sample”, and you can visit it by clicking here. It sends you a fresh newsletter every once in a while based on your taste, and asks for your feedback if you liked it. The more feedback you share, the better its algorithm gets, and the better content it sends you.
The Sample has helped a few people discover Hello Universe as well, so I would highly recommend you to try it out to discover some amazing newsletter content out in the world! 😀
Meanwhile, please do share your thoughts and appreciation in the comments below or as a reply to this email, if you found today’s poem enjoyable. See you next week!
