Waiting for something to happen is one of life’s most intense experiences. That’s what today’s poem is about.
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
Anticipation's a heightened emotion that puts all your senses in knots. Anticipation puts life in slow motion, and lets loose the wildest of thoughts. Anticipation’s a merciless guest, it sets up its camp in your lawn. It stirs up your soul and it won’t let you rest, till what you've been needing is done. You picture the wonders that might be in store, the thrill of a thing that you want. Like waiting for someone to knock on your door, or the taste of a lovely croissant. Will it be resolved just the way that you seek? Will things go the way you expect? Whatever the outcome? It will be unique, and life will be great, I suspect. So here’s to the waiting, the joy, and the dread, to build-ups so hard to contain, To all of the “what-ifs” we keep in our heads. Oh man! What a ride for the brain!
That’s it! Thanks for reading edition 184 of Hello Universe.

I’m curious to know (and need some tips, haha) - how do you keep yourself in check when you are anticipating something important?

Some Fun Stuff
This is where I share something cool to read, something cool to listen to, and something cool to watch! The underlined words are links that you can click to visit the recommended content.
1. Check out Philosophy Experiments: This is a website containing several philosophical quizzes that help you understand your own point of view on the world. Think many kinds of questions like the trolley problem. It’s a great site, and some quizzes really help you get to know yourself better. Check it out if you’re in the mood for some self discovery and reflection!
2. Listen to “Mountains” by Gott Street Park: One of those songs that’s just “vibes”.
3. Watch “The Penguin”: You just know a good show when you see it, and “The Penguin” is just that. Following the events of 2022’s “Batman”, it’s a simple story about an ambitious man (played by Colin Farell under several pounds of prosthetics) who thinks it’s time for him to get his due in the world, and all that he does to achieve it. And along for the ride with him is a deranged daughter of a crime family, brilliantly played by Cristin Millioti. I like it. Go watch it!
That’s it for this week, see you next Tuesday!
