New Home
Hello Universe 278
I’m in the middle of moving apartments this month, and it’s been a lot of work to do it by myself using public transport. I have an overlap of 15 days between the two places, and so, every few days I go to my old place, pack a couple of big heavy bags with my stuff, and come to my new place in the bus.
Finally now I am left with probably one last trip to the old place (and just 3 days to hand over the keys), and as a result, I am approaching the end of this tiring process.
Over the last decade, I have moved homes maybe 8 or 9 times, and each time comes with a unique experience of its own. One thing that stays the same though, is the experience of trying to sleep in a new bed and feeling like it is normal. Because each new bed comes with new feelings - new sounds, new springiness, new light in the morning, new way the wind flows. Everything changes and you have to make yourself get used to it all over again.
I don’t really feel comfortable with this adjustment- each time I go through it it comes with a lot of stress, difficulty sleeping, and bad dreams throughout the night. This time has been no different. So today’s poem is a way for me to pray for better sleep with better dreams and better nights.
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
I drift to sleep and dream of days of days I want to lead of days when I can live in ways of very little heed. I dream of how I want to smile I dream of things to cook. I dream of running many miles while listening to a book. I dream of how I would pursue some time to spend with me. I dream of things I want to do and who I want to be. Morning comes and wakes me up, up with a smile I rise. Excited to be at the cusp of bringing dreams to life.
