My Future [Again]
As we approach the end of 2022, I am taking some time to reflect and ponder over how I have grown as a person this year. As part of this process, I’m looking back at some of my favorite poems and republishing them.
Today’s poem was written back in March after I met someone who inspires me. It was born out of a sudden moment of clarity - that in order to move forward in life, I must stop being afraid of the process of letting go.
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
Ambition is tricky, and trade-offs are hard. Decisions difficult, consequences far. My future awaits me. It beckons me there. But I am too much in the present to care. Or sometimes, I am even stuck in the past. Thinking I could righten all wrongs at last. My future awaits me. It calls out my name. It feels so enormous. It makes me feel tame. Or maybe I'm frightened of what if I fail? Of hardship, of crisis, of rain, wind, and hail? My future awaits me. It soothes my cold nerves. I summon the courage to walk on its turf. I try to befriend it. To ride on its waves. I swim it. Survive it. I walk as it paves. My future awaits me. It holds my hand strong. We walk hand in hand as new futures are born.
That’s it! Thanks for reading edition 89 of Hello Universe.

Some Fun Stuff
This is where I share something cool to read, something cool to listen to, and something cool to watch! The underlined words are links that you can click to visit the recommended content.
1. Read this fascinating article about the current affairs of the Google co-founders: Larry and Sergey are the creators of possibly the most amount of personal wealth in the 21st century so far. And they are spending it lavishly on pet projects and private islands. This article is a deep look at how modern money works - through a complex web of LLC’s, family offices, and trusts. Must read.
2. Listen to “Thunda” by Honey Dijon: A spacey, synthy techno track that will have you tapping your feet and clapping your hands in no time.
3. Watch Bullet Train on Netflix: Brad Pitt takes his turn at a John Wick-esque badass character in a movie filled with light hearted gags, non-stop action, and gratuitous violence. Highly recommended weekend watch!
That’s it for this week. See you next Tuesday!
