Today’s poem is a marker in time.

Let’s get started in 3… 2… 1!

Ambition is tricky,
and trade-offs are hard.
Decisions difficult,
consequences far.

My future awaits me.
It beckons me there.
But I am too much
in the present to care.

Or sometimes,
I am even stuck in the past.
Thinking I could
righten all wrongs at last.

My future awaits me.
It calls out my name.
It feels so enormous.
It makes me feel tame.

Or maybe I'm frightened
of what if I fail?
Of hardship, of crisis,
of rain, wind, and hail?

My future awaits me.
It soothes my cold nerves.
I summon the courage
to walk on its turf.

I try to befriend it.
To ride on its waves.
I swim it. Survive it.
I walk as it paves.

My future awaits me.
It holds my hand strong.
We walk hand in hand as
new futures are born.

Some fun stuff:

This is a place where I share something cool to read, something cool to listen to, and something cool to watch! The colored words are links that you can click to visit the recommended content.

  1. Read Found Poems by Sana Rao: I’ve been super lucky to be a part of “Substack Go”, a writing program. It has allowed me to connect with some truly special peers on this platform. Sana is a highly accomplished design professional with an illustrious career, who calls herself “a poet moonlighting in tech”. She has been writing and performing poetry for many years now, and her accomplishments in this field, as in many others, are too many to name. I sincerely urge you as my reader to go ahead and subscribe to her writing at Found Poems, and she will help you collect a curated set of amazing poems from across the world. 📝

  2. Listen to He^rt by Starcadian: Starcadian is an independent music creator who claims to “make ear movies”. I think I agree with him. This soulful Daft Punk-esque ballad is an enjoyable trip through 80s electronica. Best listened to on a relaxed journey. 🚋

  3. Watch “Sony just reinvented earbuds”: I think this is a super cool concept. I have a set of Samsung earbuds that try to execute the same concept. With the world moving closer to enhanced experiences through AR and VR, I wonder if more people are ready for such “transparent audio” products. Check it out and let me know your thoughts as a reply to this email!

I would love it if you also shared some fun stuff that you love to read/ listen to/ watch across the internet, down in the comments.

See you next week!

P.S. - Long time readers of Hello Universe must have noted the difference in its look and feel. Thanks for noticing! I am experimenting with the colors and the look of the font, and hope to experiment with and nail a look for this little project. If you have any ideas, PLEASE REACH OUT! Send me an email with your thoughts on how this newsletter should look like. I would be super duper grateful!

Great poem. Loved it. Also thanks for your other links. I did subscribe to Found poems, although I do find the title a bit misleading. Loved the Sony review and gave you a nice review on Readsom. Had great fun with all that. Thanks.
