Today’s poem is what I hope my future self will write back to me. What would you want your future self to write to you?
Also check out today’s “Some fun stuff” section for a guest appearance by a fellow newsletter creator.
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
From: YOU (2031)
To: YOU (2021)
You took a giant lofty goal,
to maybe change the world.
You tried to be a kinder soul.
You listened, helped, and served.
You went outside your comfort zone.
You did things that were new.
You ventured to the deep unknown,
there was so much to do!
You risked it all, and like a bird,
you spread your wings and flew.
.
.
Not only did you change the world,
you made a brand new YOU!
That’s it!

Speaking of inspiration, I found an amazing newsletter - The 3Min Club (click name to visit and subscribe). It’s written by Yan, a health coach, writer, and a cancer survivor at 23!
Twice a month, Yan shares 3Ms (movement, mindfulness, mantra) to do in 3 minutes. I especially loved this post (click to read) where she shares a helpful back exercise, a mantra of positivity and gratitude, and a mindfulness exercise that everyone can practice.
Not only that, on writing to her, I found her to be a super positive human being, and she’s kindly agreed to host today’s “Some Fun Stuff” section. Over to you, Yan, for your recommendations!
Some fun stuff (guest author content):
This is a place where you can find something cool to read, something cool to listen to, and something cool to watch! The underlined words are links that you can click to visit the recommended content.
Read When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi: Paul was a gifted doctor, neurosurgeon, a loving husband, and a father. I resonated with the story because of his battle with lung cancer, and how that discovery pushed him to fulfill one of his lifelong dreams of publishing a book. The book encapsulated his vivid moments leading to the day he can't complete his book as his cancer took a nasty turn.
The last few pages of the book were then written by his wife.
I recommended this book because in times like this where many of us are dealing with loss, grief, and injustice, let Paul's story remind us of the gift of life, and how medicine, science, and faith help us navigate through life's challenges.
Listen to Seasons of Love (Rent musical) : The lyrics speak for themselves. Embrace life, live to the fullest but not carelessly, and cherish each second, especially with close and like-minded friends.
Watch The Ron Clark Story: I chanced upon this story on YouTube one day and was blown away by Ron Clark, a public school educator who taught at Harlem's public school. His method is highly personal, uplifting, and effective, as he believes when children are in a positive mood, the ability to learn, retain and understand new information is increased. He even raps! I mean don't we all wish we have teachers that are "cool". Definitely, a positive-vibes movie to watch.
That’s it from my end. I hope all of you will take a second to check out The 3Min Club, and please do subscribe for a regular dose of positivity and inspiration!
Thanks Yan! That’s it from Hello Universe today, see you next week!
Thanks, Punit for the lovely feature and write-up. Ah, I am humbled and grateful.
Your poem from the 10-year future self to the current self is fascinating. It makes me wanna hum Nelly Furtado's I'm Like A Bird. :P
