Today’s poem tries to prove that history does, in fact, repeat itself.
Poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
(1980's)
Kids these days!
What will we do!
They're always out with friends.
They're always reading comic books
and pushing up our spends!
(1990's)
Kids these days!
They have no clue
of what their life can be!
They just keep watching
silly cartoon films on the TV!
(2000's)
Kids these days!
They are the worst!
They're violent, angry, foul.
For they keep playing video games
and curse and yell and scowl.
(2010's)
Kids these days!
They're getting dumb!
Their brains are gonna freeze!
They're on their stupid phones all time
with stories, posts and tweets.
(Reality)
Kids these days!
What's up with them?
They're always having fun.
The problem is - I’m not a kid,
so I am having none.
🙃 🙃
That’s it!
Thanks for checking out edition no. 29 of Hello Universe! I’d shared this poem earlier as part of my compilation Six Poems on Time - but I really felt it deserved a post of its own, so here we are! Do share this poem with a friend who loves (or hates) the “kids these days” 😂.
Some fun stuff:
This is a place where I share something cool to read, something cool to listen to, and something cool to watch! The underlined words are links that you can click to visit the recommended content.
Read The Big Yard: Ken Lamberton watches birds, takes their pictures, and writes about his process of bird watching, and listening for bird calls. Can there be anything more wholesome on this planet? This is a really delightful newsletter, do subscribe to him! SOOTHING!
Listen to Faba by Dopapod: This track has it all - a psychedelic opening, a rock band middle, and a thundering crescendo to end it all. ENERGIZING!
Watch this beautiful animated video introducing Wes Anderson’s next movie: Wes Anderson is a cinematic genius. His movies are iconic, whimsical, grand, yet personal. I’m super-mega-ultra excited for his upcoming feature film “The French Dispatch” (trailer linked), and this video shows the opening credits to the movie, in a beautifully animated, Wes Anderson-esque style that never fails to deliver. FILMMAKER EXTRAORDINAIRE!
I would love it if you also shared some fun stuff that you love to read/ listen to/ watch across the internet, down in the comments.
See you next week!
Fun poems.
Those were fun poems to read.
