In any given home these days, there are more screens than there are people. Is it a good thing or is it bad? I don’t know. Here I am, attempting to tackle my own relationship with the screens in my life through today’s poem.
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
A simple slab of pretty glass, to which some keys are glued. A thirteen inches wonderland, that holds my meetings too. 💻💻 I spend my day just fiddling with, its tables and its decks. Its windows, docs, and titlebars, that bring me my paychecks. ⌨️📶 And after I am done with it, I sit right on my couch. And there's a fifty five inch screen, in front of which I slouch. 📺📺 It takes me all around the world. It shows me all the news. It holds a wide bouquet of shows, from which to pick and choose. 🍿🍿 And once I'm done with all of that, I lie down on my bed. And fire up a six inch screen, where jokes and memes are shared. 📱📱 I find out all about my friends, through "stories", "posts" and "tweets". I make some snarky comments too, while snuggling in my sheets. 🤳 And so it goes, I start this game of screens each day anew. Just pause and think a minute, though, is this your story too? 🤔
That’s it! Thanks for reading edition no. 127 of Hello Universe.
Some Fun Stuff
This is a place where I share something cool to read, something cool to listen to, and something cool to watch! The underlined words are links that you can click to visit the recommended content.
1. Check out Ancient Earth Globe: Ever wondered what the Earth looked like millions of years ago? This cool webapp shows you the Earth as its continents have moved around across the millennia. A great way to understand the metamorphosis of this land we walk on.
2. Listen to “Carry Me Away” by John Mayer: I just had this song playing in my head all day today for no particular reason, so here it is as my recommendation to you. John Mayer has a way with words few can match.
3. Watch Map Men try to figure out what’s up with British cities: Each Map Men episode is endlessly entertaining, and thus I have no regrets about recommending each new one as it drops. This latest episode talks about cities in Britain, and it is HILARIOUS. Even the ad in the middle is so well done that I can’t help but give this video 5/5 on my recommendation scale. Go check it out!
That’s it for this week, see you next Tuesday!
Just casually dropping truth bombs in the introduction. 👏🏻
