Eighteen
Today’s poem is a fun thought-experiment.
Here we go, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
I found a way to talk to me,
from when I was eighteen.
The person I was in my past,
the person I had been.
We had just thirty seconds,
then the portal would collapse.
So none of us had time to talk of
"maybe" or "perhaps".
I looked at him, he looked at me,
not quite sure what to say.
I think he wanted me to tell him,
life would be okay.
So here is what I told him:
"After dark there's always light.
And after light it will get dark.
And after wrong there's right.
This pattern and this cycle,
that's the way that life will go.
Don't let it get you down,
or get it up your head, you know?
Fight for all you think is right.
Don't pursue silly goals.
And love the people in your life
with all your heart and soul.
I think that's all I have for you.
I'm glad we had this call."
He looked at me and said
"Oh, man, that did not help at all!"
🙃 🙃
That’s it!
Thanks for checking out edition no. 38 of Hello Universe! I’d shared this poem earlier as part of my compilation Six Poems on Time - but I really felt it deserved a post of its own, so here we are! Do share this with someone who wants to meet their past self.
Some fun stuff:

Listen to Silksonic: Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak are a match made in heaven. Listening to them perform together is like walking on soft velvet while a soothing breeze blows through your hair! Check it out!
Watch some really cool footage of adventure sports: GoPro has released a compilation of some of the coolest adventure shots taken using its latest cameras, and each one is more breathtaking than the last. A great fix for your couch adventure pangs as 2021 draws to a close.
I would love it if you also shared some fun stuff that you love to read/ listen to/ watch across the internet, down in the comments.
See you next week!
