Dreamland

😴

My recent trip subjected me to a long period of jet lag. I took a couple of weeks to recover my sleep cycle and get back to normal.

The best part of sleeping with a jetlagged mind used to be the sheer variety of entertainment in my dreams. And those entertaining dreams are the subject of today’s poem.

Everyday before I wake,
I travel realms and places fake.
A fiction bursting at its seams.
A world of weird and crazy dreams.

It's fake but feels so real somehow,
when I see an eight-legged cow,
upon a fiery, blazing farm,
with headless chickens, full of charm.

With wizards, lizards, dragons, crimes.
With sights of past and future times.
With stadiums full of sporty teams.
A world of weird and crazy dreams.

And then I think, that if I try,
that if I try, I could just fly!
I give in fully, spread my arms!
And then

.
.
I hear the damned alarm.

Hence, the British conquest of India has always been a subject for which I have only seen one side. This video by Strategy Stuff deftly explains how the conquest was seen by the British and the East India Company, and weaves a sturdy narrative driven by politics and ambition.
