It's summer. It's time to sit in the grass and enjoy the sun. And in the grass live many ants. Today's poem is by one of those tiny ants.
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
Scurrying beneath the sky so grand, I'm a speck in this enormous land. People are mountains on the move, their footsteps shake my tiny groove. But oh! The treasures they bestow! The picnic feasts that make life glow! A sandwich crumb, a full delight— enough to party the whole night! Their children laugh and sometimes stare, at my colony's strength and flair. They marvel at our power (it's true!) we lift ten thousand times our due. Giants they are, with hearts so kind, who sometimes stop, and seem to find a moment's wonder in our toil, as we traverse the garden soil. They build their homes, I build mine too, we both work hard the whole day through. They love their families, just like me, through ant-sized eyes, it's plain to see. From down here looking way up there, I see that life's a thing we share. Different scales but same grand plan— The human being, the humble ant.
