After moving cities, it gets tough to go back to old routines. One such routine I was struggling to build back, was cooking for myself. With my parents’ visit last week, watching Mom cook helped me get back to the rhythm of cooking for myself.
It’s good to be back to the kitchen!
I’m curious to know - what is YOUR favorite dish to cook? Before you read today’s poem, drop me a short, one line answer. You can also consider sharing your thoughts as a comment. I reply to all comments with a mini poem, so today might be your turn! 😀
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
I stand in my kitchen, ingredients laid. A meal I will make, with plans I have made. I chop and I stir, as the smells fill the air. A feast just for me! With nary a care. The sizzle, the simmer - such comforting sounds. A rhythm develops, my body's unwound. A dash of some salt, and a pinch of some spice. Just follow your fancy, it feels oh-so-nice! The meal is now ready, as I sit to dine. Fragrances, tastes, which are utterly mine. Each bite and each sip, a decadent feast, as textures are felt, and the juices released. So turn up the music, and let your heart cheer, go on to the kitchen, and cook something, dear! A meal you've created, a gift just for you. Cooking a meal - what a joy to pursue!
Here’s what I ended up making:
That’s it! Thanks for reading edition no. 110 of Hello Universe!

This is a place where I recommend read-worthy, hum-worthy, and watch-worthy content from across the internet. The underlined words are links that you can click to access my suggestions:
1. Check out Future Telescope: Hello Universe is not the only newsletter that I write.
Technology is my lifeblood. For 15 years, I've been captivated by tech advancements, devouring information from media and academia alike. This journey has given me a keen understanding of the cutting edge. In February 2023, I put pen to paper and began building a community of tech enthusiasts, with Future Telescope.
At Future Telescope, I explore topics like GPT-4, its potential impact, spending money on AI technology, and engage in in-depth conversations with AI about our world. I even share AI tutorials and links from time to time.
It’s a new corner of the internet created and curated by your friend Punit. If you like Hello Universe, I’m sure that Future Telescope is also for you.
Subscribe today, and let’s look at the future together!
2. Listen to Time for Space by Emancipator: A track that never fails to soothe me. It was my 2nd most-listened to track of 2020. A perfect accomplice for the kitchen too!
3. Watch “Amsterdam's underwater bicycle parking garage” on Youtube: I wish I knew about this magnificent bicycle garage on my trip to Amsterdam. It is such a well thought-out and well designed public utility (except for the numbers on the parking pillars"). I was especially fascinated with the use of actual tiny photographs in a collage to show the scenes of the city’s past.
This is a brilliant example of public utility done right. Highly recommended!
That’s it for this week. This is my last Hello Universe edition as a 30 year old. Next time we meet, I’ll be 31.
See you next Tuesday!
