Last week, I reintroduced myself to you, dear reader. I was so delighted to receive such exciting ideas and suggestions from readers like
and , that I decided to incorporate both their suggestions into today’s poem.Hearty thanks also to
, , , , and for your encouraging thoughts on Hello Universe! 🤗Inspired by Ariana and Sara, today I’ll share my writing process, and ask some questions. Thus, today’s poem is a continuation of my journey - while last week I introduced myself, this week, I seek to know more about you.
So that’s what today’s poem is about - YOU!
Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!
When I look inside me, the feelings I feel, the memories that echo, the thoughts that appeal, they tell me about their existence and then I bring them to life with my paper and pen. Except there's no paper, except there's no pen. I just find a screen I can use quickly when, those feelings and thoughts and those memories too need writing down just to make them feel quite true. "Tap tap" goes the keyboard, "clap clap" goes my brain, these words, they come rushing again and again. They come out in buckets, they come out in bits. Sometimes there's no mold either of them can fit. But slowly and softly, a pattern is formed. It could be of language, it could be of thought. It could be my passion, it could be my views. It could be a tapestry of vivid hues. And thus word by word, I bring out what's within. I put it before you, and thus I feel seen. I feel like a person who's blessed to be heard. I feel like there's value in writing these words. So that's how I bring to you all of these rhymes. But hey, deep inside me, some questions still chime - Who are YOU, dear reader, what's stirring your soul? What drives your heart forward and what is your role? What makes you feel happy? What makes you feel real? What pushes you even when life's full of fear? What songs are your favorite? What films do you like? And what's a view for which you'll go for a hike? Who are you, dear reader, pray tell me today, so I can get to know your thoughts and your ways. What is your life's story? I do want to know. So tell me about you. Come on, let's go!
That’s it! Thanks for reading edition 153 of Hello Universe.
I hope to get to know you more this week, and am looking forward to all your amazing comments!
Some Fun Stuff
This is where I share something cool to read, something cool to listen to, and something cool to watch! The underlined words are links that you can click to visit the recommended content.
1. Check out “Things Unexpectedly Named After People” : Did you know that words like “Gasoline” and “Shrapnel” were named after people? This website is a short collection of such products and items named after people. Great party trivia.
2. Listen to the “Hello Universe” Playlist: If you’re a regular reader of Hello Universe, you know that I share a bopping track to listen to in this section every week. I’ve compiled all those tracks into a “Hello Universe” playlist, and it’s a great companion for a long drive, a chill sesh, or just as the background music to your life. It’s up to 93 tracks now, check it out!
3. Watch “Journey Through Spacetime - an immersive experience” by Scienceclic English: I’ve often come across as a Scienceclic stan in these recommendations, having recommended the channel atleast twice in the past. But each time this channel comes out with a fresh release, it is just as pathbreaking as the last, giving a deep intuitive understanding of some of the most complicated physics concepts out there. Scienceclic is the GOAT. Check this one out to understand how to look at “spacetime” as one thing instead of two. Brilliant video!
That’s it for this week, see you next Tuesday!
While reading this poem, i feel like, i am smoothly sailing with it
Love this edition! Honored to have offered a bit of inspiration 🥲 Thanks for the shoutout! I especially love the question “What makes you feel real?” Like you, the “clap clap” of my brain when I’m writing makes me feel real. Also, the tangible rhythm of laughter — mine and others’. And the goosebumps that tickle my skin when I’m in awe — of a view, a song, or a courageous act. How wonderful to get out of our heads for a bit and remember we are here in the flesh, real.
