A Great Conversation

You know you’re with a friend when words fly effortlessly in both directions. You know it even more if you resonate strongly together in your conversations. You probably know it the best when you feel lit up, inspired, or otherwise generally happy after such conversations.

Today’s poem is just that feeling, over and over again.

I’m curious to know - which recent conversation made you think deeply? Before you read today’s poem, drop me a short, one line reply about how that conversation made you feel. You can also consider sharing your thoughts as a comment. I reply to all comments with a mini poem, so today might be your turn! 😀

Alright, poem starts in 3… 2… 1!

Conversations,
ordinary,
classy, scary.
Lovely? Very.

Conversations,
so full of life.
Yes, just my type,
and pure delight.

Conversations,
Speech or writing.
Calm, exciting,
struck with lightning.

Conversations,
Some perplexing.
Some relaxing.
Speaking. Sensing.

Conversations,
out in open,
under the sun,
lively and fun.

Conversations,
giggly, sobby,
over coffee,
in the lobby.

Conversations,
eating, drinking,
swimming, sinking,
gazing, blinking.

Conversations,
encouraging,
soul-nourishing,
so flourishing.

These conversations, they create
our friends and kith and kin.
They build our lives, they build our fates.
With words, futures begin.

That’s it! Thanks for reading edition 103 of Hello Universe! Also we turn 2 years old next week.

Some Fun Stuff

This is a place where I recommend read-worthy, hum-worthy, and watch-worthy content from across the internet. The underlined words are links that you can click to access my suggestions:

1. Read Future Telescope: Technology runs deep through my veins. For the last 15 years, I have been obsessed with technological development and have consumed copious resources in media as well as academia. This has led to a strong opinion on and awareness of what’s really going on on the cutting edge. I decided to put this knowledge to written word back in February 2023, and have been slowly creating a community of tech enthusiasts. Over on Future Telescope, I talk about GPT 4 and my one prediction on what it will lead to, the very fundamentals of GPT technologies, and I even have long discussions with AI about the world we live in.

It’s a new corner of the internet created and curated by your friend Punit. If you like Hello Universe, I’m sure that Future Telescope is also for you.

Subscribe today, and let’s look at the future together!

2. Listen to Chicken Seshlik by Nipun Matreja: You may remember my friend Nipun, He is great with music, and this is one of his best playlists. Have a great musical time!

3. Watch One Second = One Hour Part 2 by The Slow Mo Guys: Ah, the Slow Mo Guys. Always delivering poignant visual poetry with panache. This video is /r/woahdude on loop. Watch now!

That’s it for this week. See you next Tuesday!

Conversation around a winter fire with my friend, the mathematician Lee Worden, about Developmental Systems Theory and the limits of metaphor in constructing human knowledge that left me feeling both humbled and expanded in every direction.
